Small steps

Slowly I am getting my body back. I gained a ton of weight in my thirties, and without obsessing about it, I've been getting back to eating habits I used to have - smaller portions and more awareness of what I'm eating. I also made the new year's resolution that I would eat one salad a week. Yeah, not a big deal, but it was to me. So far it's working.

I've lost maybe five pounds in total (like I said, this is not some miracle change), but slowly I am getting out of the higher risk zone for heart disease and type two diabetes. Not to mention that I am sooooo much happier to have smaller breasts. Note the *I* am happier about this. It's not an issue to me what men do or don't like. Besides, my breasts are still spectacular and a whole lot more comfortable to have!

And lest anyone think that I'm anorexic or body obsessed, let me note that at 5'5" and 145lbs, there is about 50 lbs between me and anorexia.

I've been rather unintentionally losing weight myself. Right now I'm trying to put it back on. For my height I should weigh about 160-165 lbs. But somehow last week I was weighing in at about 153. I'm back up to about 159-163 and hopefully I'll stay that way. I think my scale is off because it also measures percentage of body fat. And despite going from 153 to 159 to 163 over the past few days my percentage of body fat has dropped from 17% to 15%. Craziness!

One salad a week? Baby steps are good, lol. Now you're going to get all kinds of traffic for "spectacular breasts".

Perplexio: Was your recent weight gain from muscle mass? If so, good on you!

Torn: I know, it really is lame. It's not like I ate crap before, but I didn't eat salad. It's been great what my 'one a week' has done to making me think about what I eat.

If you're achieving your goals slowly and sensibly, that's awesome!

Weight and fitness are not the same, of course. I am quite skinny but the biggest couch-sloth you ever saw.

You're actually doing things right, snooze. No fads or crach diets (which are very rarely healthy OR sustainable). Just healthy, moderate eating at a pace you're comfortable with. Good on you.

I eat salad almost every day. The problem: they're the (supposedly) pre-washed, pre-bagged "cheat" salads. Each time I pick one up at the grocery store, I wonder if it's the one that's going to give me food poisoning.

Yay for you for keeping at it. I had 5 (yes 5) doughnuts yesterday. I am so bad. I have been lazy about eating and exercising lately, stress...

That's awesome. They say the slower the weight comes off, the longer it stays off, so that's a great thing. And I hear ya on the boobs. I would kill for a reduction - to be able to skip the bra some days - but men practically cry when I tell them.

Don't get despondent when special occasions cause a set back.

What I would give to weigh 145 pounds.

I have to say though, being sick the past couple of weeks has helped. I can't taste anything, I don't want to eat anything.

You sound like you're pretty active though, with the roller blading and snowboarding and all... that's the important bit.

I think you're gorgeous and don't need to change a thing, but I'm glad you're doing it for YOU, and feeling healthier and stuff.
