The alarm cat
Sometimes Fur Snake wakes me up by coming and purring right next to me. The other morning though she started purring right in my freaking ear. And then she started licking the inside of my ear - some sort of kitty version of a wet willie. All I know is that it was disgusting and it got me up pretty quickly.
I'm used to her licking my eyelids or my nose in order to wake me up, but I think this is a new approach for her. It shouldn't surprise me though as she ate my used Q-tip.
Perhaps I have yummy ear wax?
Or should clean my ears a bit more?

Well, it appears she has figured out a way to wake you up fast to get her some food!
At least she didn't bite or scratch you instead.

cats love the taste of ear wax. well, at least, they love the taste of cat ear wax, and i am sort of guessing that human and cat ear wax taste similar. I personally am not willing to test that theory, but am happy to hear the results if someone does...
anyway, yeah, our cats lick inside each other's ears all the time, and if you do the kleenex over your finger clean out of the cats ears they try to lick the kleenex. there's something there that's tasty for them.
we had a cat who used to chew on our toes when she was hungry. so, if you were brushing your teeth and hadn't fed her yet, you had to watch your toes...
My cat used to sit on my chest and claw (very gently) my bottom lip. I broke her of that habit (you don't want to know how) and she resorted at running, jumping on me and pushing off like a springboard until I woke up. I broke her of that habit, too, not unlike the way I did with the former habit.
I don't get it. Cats are fussy eaters and ear wax is disgustingly icky.

Mainja: Makes sense but YUCK. Mind you, they have to clean their bums with their tongues so maybe ear wax is good by comparison

I tested Mainja's theory that cats love ear wax. Sweet Mary mother of Christ it's true. I dug into my own ear with a Q-tip and then held it out to Fur. You would have thought it was a fudgsicle the way she attacked the end. The wax-covered cotton was devoured in seconds. Sorry, but I had to share that exciting info.
Thank God my cat isn't a people person. We have a good relationship because I'm not a cat person.
